A teenage girl who was allegedly put in a choking hold and evicted from an underage disco claimed she ‘felt she was going to die’ when the bouncer placed his hands around her neck.A horrifying video captures the doorman at Rainton Arena in Houghton-Le-Spring, Tyne and Wear, near Sunderland, holding Amarii, 14, by the neck as he pushed her backwards through the lobby on May 19.
Amarii reported that she ‘couldn’t breathe’ and feared for her life. Since the experience, she has been unable to sleep, no longer enjoys being in “crowded spaces,” and claims that “things that I found funny just aren’t funny any more.” She said this to BBC Newsbeat.
Amarii’s mother Gemma criticised the bouncer’s excessive response and asserted that while she had been “a bit mouthy” with security, she wasn’t “any kind of threat to anybody.
” According to Rainton Arena, the venue “will not accept this type of behaviour towards anyone” and it is “not happy with the actions of the individual.” Northumbria Police has been made aware of the occurrence.
