NCAA tournament and Arizona
In a closely contested match between the conference’s top teams on Saturday night, Arizona won the Pac-12 Tournament by defeating UCLA 61-59. In the last second, UCLA player Dylan Andrew had a clear shot from the left wing, but the ball rebounded off, giving the Wildcats momentum going into the NCAA Tournament.
With 16 seconds left, Courtney Ramey hit a 3-pointer to give Arizona a 60-58 lead. His first field goal of the game completed the Wildcats’ comeback from a nine-point deficit. Afterwards, UCLA guard Tyger Campbell missed what could have been the game-winning free throw with six seconds remaining.
No. 1 seed in The NCAA tournament
With 19 points to lead the Wildcats, Azuolas Tubelis took advantage of UCLA’s lack of depth while the Bruins played without rookie big man Adem Bona, who was out due to a shoulder injury. Additionally, UCLA is coping with the injured loss of crucial wing Jaylen Clark and two players who fouled out.The loss snapped the Bruins’ 12-game winning streak and will not help their chances of taking the top spot when the 68-team bracket is unveiled on Selection Sunday. The Bruins have been vying for the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
