President Zelenskyy addressed
President Zelenskyy was addressed by Roberta Metsola, the president of the European Parliament, who remarked, “We recognise that you are battling not only for your ideals, but for ours.”President Metsola said, “Ukraine is Europe and your country’s destiny is in the European Union. The EU should provide Ukraine the “quickest possible accession procedure” and, “as a next step, provide”the planes and long-range weaponry need to defend the freedom that far too many people take for granted.
“President Zelenskyy emphasised in his speech to MEPs how Russia is attempting to destroy not only independent Ukraine but also the European “style of life.” He described how, in his view, Ukraine belongs in Europe, which is a continent rooted in laws, principles, equality, and fairness. President Zelenskyy emphasised how Ukraine is fighting for and defending Europe from this anti-European force while claiming that the Kremlin is trying all in its power to destroy European ideals.
President Zelenskyy gratitude
He expressed gratitude to all Europeans for helping Ukrainian refugees enter the EU and for helping Ukraine fight off the Russian invasion. President Zelenskyy urged Europe and Ukraine to work together to build a shared European future as he looked to the future. He emphasised, however, that peace and security are necessary for our hopes for our children and grandchildren to come true. If we do not defeat this anti-European group that is attempting to steal our Europe from us, these dreams will not be realised.
President Zelenskyy made his first-ever formal trip to the European Parliament on this occasion; on March 1, 2022, not long after Russia began its conflict with Ukraine, he spoke to MEPs by video conference. On December 14 of the same year, when Parliament presented the valiant citizens of Ukraine with the 2022 Sakharov Award, he also addressed the assembly.
