Michigan State football coach Mel Tucker has been suspended amid trending video source with knowledge of the situation told MLive on Sunday afternoon.
Michigan State athletic director Alan Haller confirmed Tucker has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of the investigation during a press conference early Sunday evening at Spartan Stadium.
Veteran secondary coach Harlon Barnett will serve as the program’s interim coach and retired former head coach Mark Dantonio will serve as associate head coach .
An investigation into the video against Tucker, conducted by an outside Title IX attorney hired by the university, was completed in July. According to a news conference conducted by the school on Sunday, Tucker has been suspended without pay while the “fair, thorough and unbiased investigation” is completed.
The university will hold a formal hearing on the findings the week of Oct. 5, coinciding with the MSU program’s bye week.
The university suspended Tucker two games into his fourth season with the Spartans in the wake of a Title IX investigation into allegations that he trending harassed Tracy, whom he brought to speak at Michigan State multiple times since 2021.
Haller said “new developments” regarding the investigation into Tucker led him to suspend the football coach with the “support of university leadership.”
