The Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD) was set up as a constituent center of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Science (ICCBS) via a beneficiant donation and patronage of Ms Nadira Panjwani H.I.,S.I. (Chairperson, Dr. Panjwani Memorial Trust) in the reminiscence of her loved father, Dr. Mohammad Hussain Panjwani, a main scholar and philanthropist.
The PCMD initiated a number of scientific packages with the goal to find viable remedies of often neglected and frequent diseases of Pakistan, as well as related human aid development. The main objective of the Center is to teach quite certified manpower in the rising new fields of molecular medicine and drug development.
The academicians, clinicians, and pharmaceutical researchers are introduced collectively to translate basic medical discoveries into new therapies, vaccines and diagnostic tests. The center has over 150 young research students rregistered in M.Phil. and Ph.D program.
The efforts in the Center is especially targeted on developing extra and more complete understanding of the sample and causes of most common diseases of Pakistan in order to develop powerful diagnostic tools and cheap remedies by using molecular medicinal, chemical and computational methods.
The mission of the center is to foster excellence and gain international reputation in the focused areas of graduate training and research, which are relevant to national needs.
To accomplish this task, the center is concerned in: a) Enhancing the quality and quantity of scientific training of graduate students in the area of molecular medicine and rational drug designing, b) Focusing on the development of new and powerful diagnostic, and treatment techniques for common diseases, c) Providing forum for information change between academic disciplines, and d) raising general attention about the diseases and their prevention, therapy and treatments.
The Center has some of research wing and other facilities, which includes Center for Bioequivalence and Clinical Research (CBSCR), Jamil-ur-Rahman Center for Genomics and a national facility for Animal House.
