After prosecutors claimed that the “Wake Up” singer had broken the terms of his bail by threatening to kill someone and brandishing a gun during a FaceTime call in December, the musician was brought back into custody in August 2022.
Maxell admitted guilt to conspiring to possess and distribute 500 grammes or more of cocaine in federal court later that month, the prosecutor’s office told .
In a statement released by the US Attorney’s office on Wednesday, it was stated that Maxwell and the other defendants distributed the drugs between June 2019 and June 2020, in accordance with court documents.
The defendants bought the drugs on the West Coast, sent them across the country with the help of USPS drivers and “hidden vehicle compartments,” and then distributed them in Suffolk County, according to the prosecution’s description of the operation in the press release.
Additionally, it is stated that Maxwell was a “kilogram-level redistributor for the trafficking organisation” and that five of the defendants used firearms “to protect their drug organisation and distribution chain.”
